Billing insurance claims often requires some knowledge about ICD and CPT codes. There's a lot of information online and there are even certified billers that do this professionally. We're here to give you some quick tips that may be helpful when filing vision claims using our software.

ICD-10 Codes

ICD-10 codes are international standards for indicating a patient's diagnosis. Some of the more commonly used codes are:

  • H5213 - Myopia Bilateral

  • H5211 - Myopia, right eye

  • H5212 - Myopia, left eye

  • H52203 - Unspecified astigmatism, bilateral

  • H5203 - Hypermetropia, bilateral

CPT/HCPCS codes

CPT/HCPCS codes for vision services or “V-Codes” are standardized by the American Medical Association for indicating the services and materials rendered to patients. Some of the more commonly used codes are:

  • V2020 - Standard Frames

  • V2100 - Single Vision Prescription Lenses

  • V2200 - Bifocal Prescription Lenses

  • V2300 - Trifocal Prescription Lenses

  • V2781 - Progressive lenses

  • V2750 - Anti-Reflective Coding

  • V2744 - Tint Photo Chromatic Lenses 

  • V2762 - Lens Polarization

  • V2513 - Contact Lens Extended Wear

  • 92310 - Prescription, fitting & dispensing contact lens by doctor

  • 92314 -  Prescription, fitting & dispensing contact lens
